Critical Equity (CE) is a working framework that addresses the symbiotic impacts of humans and systems as it pertains to equity in the workplace. CE upholds that systems, like organizations or institutions, often shape the people working within them. Simultaneously, people have influence over the perceptions and experiences with equity that shape these systems. CE brings together principles of Ecological Systems Theory (Bronfenbrenner, 1979), queer theory, and Critical whiteness Studies (CwS) to form a model that addresses the ways that equity functions and moves that shapes institutions and the people working within them.
